Step1
All of our power bills start going up and
trashes our monthly budgets. The power company executives whine and blame it on
all their rising costs and
increased demands.
Step2
We later read in the newspaper and hear on the news that all the power and energy
companies are making record profits and that all the
executives of
those companies get millions in bonuses even though the company costs
were supposedly rising and getting out of hand.
Step3
Our politicians respond heatedly to our interests by
questioning the executives of the power and energy companies in a public
forum. Their campaigns promise that they will fight
the energy companies on our behalf.
Step4
We later read in the newspaper and see on the news that the
power and energy companies have bought those very same politicians by
giving
millions to their campaigns.
Step5
Neither the politicians or energy companies respond any
further to the issue since now the politicians have been
elected and the company executives now have their millions. They now hope that
the story will fizzle out and that we consumers will forget about the whole thing.
Which we usually do and then we go back to Step1 again.
